Before Shuai Chang could adapt, three gentle knocks sounded at the door. A capable woman in a black professional outfit entered and met the boss’s gaze. With a gentle smile, she stepped aside, revealing the man behind her, who resembled a spring dawn.
Shen Yunqing.
With neatly styled black hair, delicate brows, long eyes, and thin, red lips, he possessed a striking beauty that was hard to define, an androgynous charm.
Shuai Chang had never acted before, but fortunately, the memories of Yin Haidong lingered in this body, allowing him to respond without relying solely on Shuai Chang’s thoughts.
The cold, sharp features of Yin Haidong softened like spring light upon seeing Shen Yunqing. His eyes shone with warmth as he stood, quickly walked around the desk to Shen Yunqing, and grasped his hand eagerly. “Yunqing, you’re here.”
The barely audible sound of the door closing didn’t affect the two of them. Shen Yunqing smiled softly, blooming like spring flowers. “I dreamed about you, and missing you made me come. I hope I’m not interrupting your work.”
“Of course not.” Yin Haidong pulled him to sit on the sofa together, reluctant to let go as he hesitated before finally releasing Shen Yunqing’s slender fingers.
“How’s it going? Are you adapting to the company?” Yin Haidong looked at Shen Yunqing with a tender gaze.
That was when Yin Haidong’s emotions began to fade, and Shuai Chang regained control of the body.
Shen Yunqing observed the suddenly distant man, feeling his heart skip a beat. His face still wore a smile, appearing almost oblivious as he moved closer. “Everyone has a great personality, and Sister Lili takes good care of me.” Sister Lili was the capable woman from earlier.
“I know they’re being nice to me because of you, Haidong. Thank you.” As Shen Yunqing spoke, a blush appeared on his face, and he bit his lower lip with his pearly-white teeth, gazing at Yin Haidong with a misty look in his eyes, filled with both affection and a sense of longing.
Shuai Chang felt no fluctuations within, even finding it somewhat amusing.
After living as a straight man for over twenty years, being flirted with by another man felt utterly ridiculous to him.
However, his nature made him inherently tolerant of everyone, so he politely yet gently responded as the tall and handsome Yin Haidong, “Friends should treat each other this way.”
A moment of unspoken silence passed. Shen Yunqing lowered his gaze and stood up. “Haidong, are you tired? I’ll get back to work now. Let’s have lunch together at noon. It’s on me.”
Yin Haidong glanced at his watch; it was eleven-thirty. The company had lunch breaks from noon to two.
“Next time, perhaps. I’ll treat you later; I have issues to deal with this noon.” As Shuai Chang thought of Yin Haidong returning home for documents several times before lunch, he recalled seeing Fan Luojia prepare a table of his favorite dishes. It was likely Fan Luojia did this every day or someone in the company informed him, but that was impossible; no one in the company knew about their relationship.
Shuai Chang decided to go home for a look, aiming to rectify his scumbag life. Not cheating was one aspect, but treating and pampering his little receiver was where he should focus more of his efforts.
In the office, Shen Yunqing’s rare initiative couldn’t change Yin Haidong’s sudden mood shift. His face flushed red and white, lost in thought, before he suddenly offered Shen Yunqing a sorrowful smile and hurriedly said, “I won’t disturb you any longer,” before rushing out.
Yin Haidong was particularly strict about work; he had never been late or left early, nor did he allow his employees to do so for any reason. But today, he broke his own rule.
The office of his assistant, Yu Lili, was next to the CEO’s office, divided by transparent glass. As Yin Haidong walked out, Yu Lili could immediately see him.
Through the five-millimetre-thick glass, Yu Lili thought she was seeing a mirage.
The CEO’s office had a resting area complete with a bed, wardrobe, bathroom, and toilet, so there was no way Yin Haidong had come out for that. But he hadn’t informed anyone about his schedule.
Yu Lili began to question herself; perhaps she had forgotten a meeting in the conference room. She rummaged through the communication records and schedule, all pointing out that Yin Haidong should be in his office reviewing documents. So, what could cause the punctual CEO to make an exception?
Then, Yu Lili remembered that just ten minutes ago, Shen Yunqing had walked out of the CEO’s office.
As she reflected on the beautiful person charming the king to take early leave, she became curious about whose tears Shen Yunqing could be shedding.
Ultimately, the result boiled down to the two having a disagreement, and that’s why Yin Haidong would go after Shen Yunqing, to soothe him. This kind of boss diminished the sense of distance that usually accompanied authority, easing Yu Lili’s mental pressure to gossip.
Shuai Chang naturally knew that Yin Haidong had a habit of never leaving early. However, with the capabilities of his “Ling Tuan” golden finger, his work efficiency was remarkably high. He finished a day’s work in a mere ten minutes, and there was no need to linger in the office any longer.
His target was Fan Luojia; as long as he didn’t draw excessive suspicion, he could act according to his wishes.
Upon driving to his garage, Shuai Chang was met by a pair of surprised eyes.
“Brother Haidong, why are you back?” he asked, the hint of unease evident in his tone.
Yin Haidong hadn’t returned home in over a week. Fan Luojia had tried to call him a few times, meeting increasingly impatient responses from Yin Haidong, who lamented that his work was overwhelming and was often disturbed by his calls. For the past couple of days, Fan Luojia had refrained from calling him again.
Seeing Yin Haidong suddenly made Fan Luojia both delighted and nervous. The day before yesterday, Yin Haidong’s words had wounded him. Facing such a talented person as Yin Haidong made Fan Luojia feel inferior, and after that phone call, he realized he had never controlled the dynamics of their relationship.
He passively accepted Yin Haidong’s kindness, believed the pressure from the Yin family was something he had to endure, and eventually found himself reluctantly married to Yin Haidong… He had grown accustomed to it, yet if Yin Haidong disliked him, he had no idea how to salvage things.
Fortunately, he was back.
Shuai Chang couldn’t help but size up Fan Luojia.
In Yin Haidong’s memories, Fan Luojia looked almost identical to Shen Yunqing. However, the Shen Yunqing he had just seen resembled a flawless beauty, while Fan Luojia was like a handsome youth whose eyes sparkled like stars and revealed two adorable fangs when he smiled.
Author’s Note:
Shuai Chang and the receiver are in love. He lost his memory before death, thinking he was straight when he was actually not.
